Was a bit hesitant to go because of the not so good reviews. I agree with the several reviews that the young lady doing service does not know what she was doing. She has no customer service skills and no idea on the menu offering. She tried to serve us dessert while we were still in the middle of our mains. Only to find out that it was for a different table. Duncan saved the day and was wonderful. He suggested a great wine and knows very well his restaurant. We wont hesitate to come back.
TO REAFFIRM, this review is NOT about SHAW VINEYARD ESTATE, its about the Olleyville restaurant on-site. The SHAW VINEYARD ESTATE is a beautiful and well looked after place, congratulations.APPALLING. I ordered an entree and a main course. the entree was "Charred lamb backstrap, roast pumpkin, anchovy aioli, toasted sesamelamb" It was TWO (YES TWO) tiny slices of lamb with 1 teaspoon of sauce and one wafer thin baked slice of pumpkin. For $20. WHAT A RIPOFF!!!!!!!!!!!!! APPALLING!!!!!!!!Main course wasn't much better. " Market fish, seasonal garnish " and for this $28 I got a small fish fillet (YES SMALL - 4cm wide, 10cm long!!!!!)), 1 small potato, 1 (YES ONE) small cherry tomato, a couple of tiny lettuce leaves and a smidgin of sauce. ABSOLUTELY APPALLING!!! 1 STAR!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!I don't expect a banquet with heaps of food, but to serve an adult a 4 year old toddler's meal and charge them $48 - I WON'T be coming back - EVER!!!!!!!!!Hi - (Sorry about the late response, but I've been away and my mobile couldn't open this review page - I'm home now on my pc). Great dinner at Olleyville, I couldn't fault the food or the service.
Absolutely awful service. We were greeted rudely and treated with disgust by a waiter. We left without ordering and will actively recommend that people not go.
Wonderful food and of course excellent wine.A little overpriced considering the cellar door is 50m away.It was crowded but not full when we arrived for our booked table. Service was a little slow but pleasant.More than made up for by the food.Succulent pork belly rates with the best I have had.Colyflower cheese was very tasty.Duck dishes were also excellent. Quite large serves. Despite the soft surfaces it can still get quite noisy.Excellent open fire in winter.
